=====Wind Sensor Team Meeting- October 1, 2016===== **Attended: Daisy, Mengyuan, Creighton, Scott ** =====Updates===== * Collected raw data from teensy with one microphone * Plotted data in excel to gain an understanding of the data we are working with * Tests conducted in multiple conditions: * sound frequencies of 2k, 4k, 6k, 10k, 12k, and 14k Hz * indoors with Vornado fan at highest speed setting * Received Omega HHF802 Anemometer this week * Difficulty connecting anemometer to Matlab via RS232 data cable * Matlab sees device in serial port but gives the error: "the specified amount of data was not returned within the timeout period" * Other possible wind sensor ideas * Ultrasonic sensor * Measure the time it takes for sound to travel from emitter to receiver * Use equation for wind speed that takes into account temperature, pressure, humidity, etc. =====Reminders===== * To Do: * Consider splitting up into two groups: * Mengyuan to research ultrasonic wind sensor * Creighton and Scott to continue replicating Andy's tests and results to gain further understanding * Etch/mill working board by the end of the semester
