Onboarding Guide

This guide will help you to get started with our lab's tools and procedures. Regardless if you've joined us as an x96 student or not, you should find this a good starting place to start contributing to our lab.

Everyone

These are things everyone should do when they come on board.

  1. Make sure you have access to the following things:
    1. Wiki
    2. Slack
    3. Google Calendar
    4. Google Drive
  2. Write a message on Slack - say hello!
  3. Create a LinkedIn profile if you don't already have one.
  4. Create a Github profile if you don't already have one.
  5. Go through the your interests page and answer the questions.
  6. Go through the introduction readings and answer the questions.

All x96 students

  1. Put your weekly meeting time on the calendar (make sure you have access).
    1. Follow the instructions here.
  2. Create a folder in the google drive for your team's documents.
  3. Create a team channel on Slack.
    1. Click the plus button on the side bar next to “Channels”.
    2. Insert your team name as your Channel name.
    3. Invite others on your group and your mentor to the channel.
  4. Sign up for x96 Funding.
    1. If you have not done so yet, please contact Dr. Sasaki at [email protected] to get access to the EE x96 Project Purchasing and Reimbursements Laulima page.
    2. Please note that if you decide to purchase items on your own, you will need to save your receipts for reimbursement, and the reimbursement for the purchase will be taxed.
  5. Read through the x96 syllabus section on the wiki
    1. Go through the links and read them carefully

Come up with a team name
Please decide on a team name for your group.

Create a Wiki page for your team
Have someone on your team create a wiki page for your group.

  1. Under the section “Prototype Sub-Teams” add another row to the table and fill in your team’s information.
  2. Create your team name as a link to a new wiki page. You can find instructions on this here: https://wiki.scel-hawaii.org/doku.php?id=tools:wiki
  3. As you add information to your page throughout the semester, please format your wiki page according to the following: https://wiki.scel-hawaii.org/doku.php?id=tools:wiki#how_to_organize_your_wiki_page
