Introduction
The Apple weather box design is the first stable platform in the weather box lineage. Its purpose is to collect weather sensor data and then send it back home to a server.
Meeting lab hours: Monday 4:30 - 7:00, Thursday 4:30 -7:00
Goals
Spring 2024 Semester Goals
- Deploy!!!
- Get firmware to connect to the gateway
- Make a more energy-efficient board
- Look at printing more boards (v4.3.1) it was redesigned for a new 5V boost converter
- Order 5V boost converter (Polulu)
- make wind turbine
- Look at Kenny's suggestion “btw, the biggest suggestion i have with apple is to get rid of the dual converter setup you'll get much better performance making everything 3.3v and going with a low dropout regulator”
Long Term Goals

Work Left to Be Done
- Test and Debug Apple v4.2.1 board (REVISE for v4.3)
- Fix RTC Function Codes (REVISE for v4.3)
- Implement updated version of Apple v4.2.1 as Apple v4.3
- Populate Apple v4.3 board
- Finalize PCB housing design, implement new ideas for future housing designs
- After obtaining roof access, debug and test Apple V.4.0.0
