Xbee Team Meeting #20 - March 10, 2016
Attended: Ernesto, Kaeo, Tyrin, Tryston, Michael, Dr. Kuh
Updates
- RP-SMA Connectors arrived
- Tips from Jeremy Garcia
- Typical RF Cell edge of a data WLAN is defined as -75 dBm
- Cell edge means edge before you need another access point (AP) to match edges
- Max range of the XBee should occur at -75 dBm
- XBee Operating frequency band: 2.4 GHz
- There is about 5-7 bands in 2.4, meaning if there is more than 5-7 things in the area that runs on that frequency, there will be “collisions” or mixed signals which will automatically drop packets
- Avoid kitchens and metal
- Preferred range: line of sight
Problems
- N/A
Reminders
- Solder on RP-SMA connectors next week
