Updates

  • Got back our order forms signed by Dr. Kuh and uploaded it to Laulima
  • Conducted range testing: Different floors
    1. Board suddenly turned off –> battery died
    2. changed the battery but didn't power on –> checked voltage going out from the voltage regulator and it was 5V!
    3. changed the voltage regulator to Pololu 3.3V voltage regulator –> not regulating to 3.3V
      1. accidentally connected it backward –> it got HOT!! [MIZPAH GOT BURNED! ): ]
    4. Since the battery is only 3.4V, decided to just not use a voltage regulator (temporarily)
  • XCTU RANGE TESTING NOTES:
    1. Local = XBee module is connected to the computer
    2. Remote = other XBee in the same network (not connected)
    3. RSSI values (dBm): < -80 dBm = poor

To Do

  • Conduct more range testing
  • Waiting response from Dr. Sasaki to send Gerber files to Linda

Attended: Mizpah, Sharmaine, Xiao

Updates

  • Continuation of range testing: Line-of-Sight
    1. Used LM1086 to regulate the input voltage to 3.3V
  • Still waiting for order confirmations from Linda
    1. Mouser: Solar Lithium Ion/Polymer charger, XBee Pro S2C
    2. DigiKey: SMD Switches/Button, 0805 18 pF capacitors
    3. Seeed: PCB
