Updates

  • Continuation of Range Testing with Xbee S2C
    1. Location: McCarthy Mall – placed Xbee behind the tree
      1. Results: Based on the data that we received, distances from 90 feet to 244 feet, all packets were received and no TX errors and no packets were lost. Take note the weather was sunny with little wind and no students/people passing by. However, after 244 feet to 477 feet, we started losing packets and not receiving any. At the end, no packets were received at all. This being the reason because more students were passing by.
    2. Location: NOT line of sight at Holmes Halls in 4th floor
      1. Results: We measured distances for each hallway in the 4th floor. When conducting the first hallway, no packets were received at all due to the major thickness of walls and other variables. As a result, we stopped this test.
    3. Alternative location
      1. We decided to just test two walls. First wall is from break room to SCEL lab and all packets were received. Second, the second wall is from break room to outside of HH491 and packets were 93% received. Lastly, the outside of SCEL and HH486 and no packets were received

* Searched specification of XBees range
